John Newby
I am a part-time member of the pastoral staff, having served as a pastor in California, a missionary in Africa and a college administrator before retiring and coming on staff at SAFMC in 1994. It has been a pleasure to bring my fifty plus years of ministerial experience to my current position as Church Administrator. I also teach a senior adult Sunday School Class. I find great joy in service for my Lord.
Family
God has graciously given me a wonderful wife, Becky, and family. We are celebrating 59 (April 15) great years of marriage and have four wonderful children. Sharon Page our first, is an elementary teacher. Her husband, Dave, is a retired elementary teacher who is currently coaching Men’s Golf at Spring Arbor University. They have four children; Dave, Jr.(Wendy), Dan, Shaun (Meg), and Shanna. Karen White, our second, is a nurse and pastor’s wife. Her husband, John, is a minister with the Evangelical Free Church. They have two sons and one daughter; Andrew (Michelle0, Matthew (Sarah), and Sarah. Becky Holton is our third daughter, is an elementary teacher. Her husband, Steve, is a teacher and coach and they have three sons and one daughter; Kevin, Eric; Lance; and Laura. John, Jr. (Mary), our only son, is Senior Vice President for UCA. They have five daughters; Taylor, Carson, Blakely, Sydnie, and Addison.
My wife, Rebecca (Becky), has been a very supportive partner in ministry. Whatever successes I have enjoyed as pastor, missionary, college administrator, have been greatly enhanced by her loyal partnership. We enjoy spending time with our children and families.
